There is a new musical at the 5th Ave Theatre called Half the Sky. Which is about Aurelie, who after her sister’s death she sets out to fulfill her childhood dream of climbing Mount Everest. As Aurelie embarks on her path to the top of the world, memories of her Thai American past and the unresolved rift between her and her sister begin to surface.
Half the Sky’s Artistic Director, Bill Berry, and the co-writers Tidtaya Sinutoke, and Isabella Dawis came on today’s program to talk about this amazing musical and let us know what it was like putting this together during a lockdown. Then we got plugged into the movies with Adam Holts who gave us some excellent new and old movie recommendations

This show was a behind the scenes look into conversations Michelle has with the guests after their interview is over. First, we had on Billy Hallowell who is the communications and content director for PureFlix, talking passionately about his favorite pizza, Adam Holts from Pluggen In, discussed his excitement with getting an in and out burger that just came to his city, and last the Rabbi discussed the similarities between Hanukkah and Christmas.

We talked to the award winning actress Karen Abercrombie who starred in a new movie called Discarded Things, which follows the life of Grace Wyatt. Grace finds herself thrown out of her lavish academic world and into the harsh reality of teaching at-risk youth, she begins to find emotional restoration as she gets to know the teens she is helping. Next, we talked to Brian Bird who is the executive producer for the show When the Heart Calls. This show is about community, love, and people working together. Last, Adam Holts joins us for some Plugged In movie reviews.
